More than 1 600 years, a Buddhist monk from India, climbed the highest summit of Mount Emei. Amazed by the beauty and grandeur of the landscape, said the mountain was “the first in China.”
It is, indeed. It rises like an immense emerald green screen, southwest of the Chengdu Plain. Its shape, which is on the horizon evokes the face and fine brow of a maiden. Hence comes the name of Emei. It comprises four adjacent peaks: Da’e, Er’e, San’ey Si’e and Qionglai attached to the mountain, a chain of Kunlun, lies about 200 km.
