Blossom Festival of cherries and plums
Date: Early Spring
When it is early spring in Jiangsu, the province’s gardens are filled with pink and white flowers as its cherry and plum blossom. Although there are cherry trees in the gardens and parks of many cities in Jiangsu, some impressive are in Nanjing and Wuxi.
The cherry blossoms are the official flower of Nanjing and the locals traditionally go to see them flourish during the early spring each year. The area south of the Imperial Ming Xiaoling Tomb is one of the most famous places to see cherry blossoms. A small hill (originally the tomb of an emperor) is completely covered in a blanket of flowers, while the green trees and gardens around flowering cherry trees are also of different tones that contrast with the first green leaves of spring.
