Casco Viejo de Panama or Casco Antiguo or Old Panama, as some call it, is the historic center and an elegant and fashionable in Panama City, where magnificent colonial buildings are being restored to its original glory. Many galleries, new bars and restaurants and other businesses attract not only tourists, but the Panamanians themselves. Located in the western part of Panama City, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Casco Viejo is also home to the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral of San José, many museums and French Park.
In the beautiful French Park French Embassy, is a monument to the French builders who began the Panama Canal. Since the passage around the monument, visitors have a beautiful view of the Amador Causeway and Panama Canal, the Bridge of the Americas and the skyscrapers of Panama City. On one side of the monument is also a traditional Spanish structure called The Vault, which is now used as an art gallery and a French restaurant.
